:: drumming for Christ ::

WHO IS SWITCHFOOT?

Switchfoot is Tim Foreman, Jon Foreman and Chad Butler, three guys from San Diego who love to play music, surf and honor their Creator. The three grew up on the beaches of San Diego, surfing since their early teens, competing in national amateur surfing championships and earning product endorsements from Redsand Clothing, DSO sunglasses and REEF shoes. As long as they have surfed, they have also played music. And, while the guys have been friends for years (their dads serve as pastors for neighboring Calvary Chapels in Carlsbad), the band was not formed for quite some time. In the great tradition of overnight success stories, it was a crude demo recorded in Jon's bedroom only a few months after they started playing together that found its way to producer Charlie Peacock's home in Nashville. The originality of the music and the honesty of the lyrics captured him immediately. Shortly after a personal meeting with Tim, Jon and Chad, Charlie signed the band to his boutique label that is part of music giant, EMI Music.

The close friendship between Chad, Tim, and Jon has developed throughout the years on the road and has translated into Switchfoot's compelling live performances. Jon, Tim, and Chad have played music to crowds in Europe, Hawaii, Alaska, and all across the continent.
Since then, Jerome Fontimillas, one of the musical masterminds behind the groups Mortal and Fold Zandura, has joined the band playing keys, guitar, and singing background vocals. Jerome's influence isn't hard to miss in their live performances and on the new album

Switchfoot has accomplished many things during their 7+ years as a group. Many of their highly looked-up accomplishments are listed below, but even more important than any awards are the things they have done and are doing to help further the Kingdom of God and make a difference in the world around us. Switchfoot has worked with a musical group of Sudanese refugees. Suffering persecution for their faith in Sudan, a large group has moved to San Diego, fleeing for their lives. Jon plans to produce an album for them, utilizing Switchfoot's home studio. Applying his experience in computer graphics, Tim designed the entire packaging for Learning to Breathe, as well as The Beautiful Letdown. This was a hard-won feat as Tim is the first artist within EMI Christian Music Group to design his own album packaging. Also contributing to Switchfoot's "hands on" work ethic, Chad served as the road manager.

WHAT IS A SWITCHFOOT?

Switchfoot is a surf term that is used when a surfer changes foot position on the board, gaining a new perspective. This is how Tim, Jon and Chad approach their music and their lives - you'll hear in their music quick changes of style, while their lyrics reflect a life lived from a different perspective than many modern rock bands.

AAARRGGG!!!! do u guys who those are????? dat's jon n jerom!!! good Lord!!! ha ha.. yeah... so there we were, waiting while watching them doing soundchecks AND!!! they came out... and approached us...and said hi!!! arrggg!!!... arrgg!!!...ha ha.. we chatted for a while, and then, their really nice manager took a picture of us!!! ha ha... da BIGGEST surprise was that they talked to us FIRST after da soundcheck!! ha ha.. they prolly think that we are one hell hardcore fans... fancy waiting for them to perform while there's still like 4 hours before it starts!!

ha!but da result?!?! they recognize us now... cos when da concert finishes, jon n jerom said to us :" great!u guys r back!!... is it worth the wait?!?" h aha... jon's bro also remember us... omg!!! okaie2... soo...i'll wrap this up... overall, still da BESTEST concert!!!da BESTEST group!!..

so, wat happens if m3li n j3n meet??rusuh!! hauhaua... i went out with meli to watch SWITCHFOOT!! wait for da photos to be posted okaie?? haven't got da chance to put it up yet.. so, we were there at 5 pm..and da concert will only start at 8.30pm..

so there we are... walking around Scarborough Beach... sharing, laughing, eating...it's always been a great FUN everytime i meet her... miss her heaps!! he he.. rambutnya donnkkkzzz.. KEREN booo!!!

and at lassttt... we managed to pull our way through till da concert starts..i'll update u with wat happened!!stay tune!! it's a must-read!! AWESOME concert!! da BEST!!

it's been some time since i update this blog. lots of things happened in da last week, da week just passed by so quickly. i haven't got the time to do da blog, till tonite. i just came back from music practice, not really a practice today. the music team got together and apostle J shared about an Apostolic Generation, and what does it mean. it's always such an exciting thing when we get together and share. excitement and passion is there, burning in each one of us.

an Apostolic Generation...

a generation that makes an effort to grow

a Generation that always ask to receive

a Generation who's responsible for each other's growth in Christ

i am excited!! i really am..! being part of this new Generation movement, being mentored and guided by such great Apostles...

so here i am, sitting down... believing that something great is going to happen this year and in the years ahead.. i am totally EXCITED! there are some issues in my life that i need to settle. especially these few months, where i just can't stop thinking about it, i know it's time for me to do something. and i am asking GOD, for His favour, to really help me, i am pretty desperate in this.

and another thing, i miss my family.. i miss them alot... especially mum. haven't seen her for a while now. i wish i can get back home and spend time with my family for a while.. he he.. but that's ok... it's prolly dat time of the month where i am feeling very emotional. but i know im never alone... friends are here with me... and most importantly, GOD is here with me... i now realise how much i really love Jesus, and i realize dat i actually live just for Him and my family..

If you find yourself in love with someone who does not love you, be gentle with yourself.

There is nothing wrong with you.

Love just didn't choose to rest in the other person's heart.

If you find someone else in love with you and you don't love her/him,

feel honored that love came and called at your door, but gently refuse the gift you cannot return.

Do not take advantage, do not cause pain.

How you deal with love is how you deal with you, and all our hearts feel the same pains and joys, even if our lives and ways are different.

If you fall in love with another, and she/he falls in love with you, and then love chooses to leave, do not try to reclaim it or toassess blame, Let it go.

There is a reason and there is a meaning.

You will know in time.

Remember that you don't choose love. Love chooses you.

All you can really do is accept it for all its mystery when it comes into your life.

Feel the way it fills you to overflowing, then reach out and give it away.

Give it back to the person who brought it alive in you.

Give it to others who deem it poor in spirit.

Give it to the world around you in anyway you can.

This is where many lovers go wrong. Having been so long without love,they understand love only as a need.

They see their hearts as empty places that will be filled by love, and they begin to look at love as something that flows to them rather than from them.

The first blush of new love is filled to overflowing, but as their love cools, they revert to seeing their love as need. They cease to be someone who generates love and instead become someone who seeks love. They forget that the secret of love is that it is a gift, and that it can be made to grow only by giving it away.

Remember this, and keep it to your heart.Love has its own time, its own seasons, and its own reason for coming and going.

You cannot bribe it or force it, or reason it into saying.

You can only embrace it when it arrives and give it away when it comes to you.

But if it chooses to leave from your heart or from the heart of your lover, there is nothing you can do and there is nothing you should do.

Love always has been and always will be a mystery.

Be glad that it came to live for a moment in your life.

Don't deny love just only you don't want to be hurt...

today was a great Sunday, Church was great!, Praise n Worship was AWESOME!!! and after lunch at Southlands, i went to Apst.J's n Pst.Tara's house...do some quality talk w them..after watching 'raise a voice' and ' a cinderella story'... anyway, da point of what i'm writing is, i have decided that i want to start something in life. do something with wat God has given me, my talent, my passion. talked to my beloved mentor about this, about me starting a business... it's time for me to start!... i just pray that it'll be done, and i will mark this day, as a step to a new future for me... 20 Feb 2005...

this article is wat exactly i have in my heart, and i'll do it..:

Do What You Love--5 Steps to help you get the career you want

1. Discover Your Passion

If you discover the one thing that you are most passionate about, you will discover God’s purpose for your life. Think about the one thing you would do everyday, without pay, if you could. What gets you excited? What do you like to talk about and debate over with your friends? What magazines do you subscribe to or browse through in the bookstore? What one thing are you most knowledgeable about? If you had a trillion dollars and didn’t have to work, what would you do? If you discover your passion, you will discover God’s purpose for your life.

2. Educate Yourself

Now that you know your passion, find ways you can turn your passion into income. Go to the Internet or the library and research your interest. What job would allow you to work in your fields of interests? Where do people with your interest work? What job titles do they hold? Do they work in an office or do they work out of their home, in the field, in a hospital? What are the requirements of a person who work in your field of interest? Come up with a list of as many careers and job titles as you possibly can that will allow you to do the thing you are passionate about.

3. Network

Network with people who are currently working in your fields of interest. Find organizations and associations that specialize in your field of interest and join. Go to their monthly or weekly functions. Don’t just attend, but be as active as you possibly can. Join a committee. Get to know as many people as possible, not just in the meeting, but get to know them personally as well.

4. Find a mentor

Find an individual or two that you admire who are presently working in your field of interest. Get to know them. Offer to take them to lunch and pick their brain to find out all you need to know about your field of interest. Ask if you may contact them whenever you have a question.

5. Conduct Informational Interviews.

Informational interviews are interviews where you interviewer a person who is knowledgeable in your field of interest to find out all you can about the field from an expert. Find a knowledgeable person who is working in your field of interest and ask if you could have 15 minutes of their time. Make a list of questions and concerns you have pertaining to your field of interest. These questions should include all things you want to know about the field, what the job entails, what requirements are needed for this job or career, what is expected on a daily basis, weekly basis, monthly basis.

Put these 5 principles to practice and in no time you will be doing what your love and living your life with a purpose. God’s purpose.

After numerous threats and harassing, i have finally decided to write Jen her much-deserved testimonial...for fear for my life..HAAHAHAHAHA just kidding :-D Jen is a very very sweet girl whom ive known for a year or so, but ive only begun to really know over the last 6 months..she's always there for me when i need her, and is one of the few people who gives me encouragement and reassurance even when i dont need it..thanks for that Jen, you dont know how much i appreciate it ;-) apart from somehow always looking stunning regardless of the time of day (or late, late, LATE night), jen's creative talents are a sight to behold...all the photos she takes are awesome, the furnishings in her house are stylish (i wouldnt be surprised if the IKEA manager knew her by name)...she can also play the guitar, and her SINGING....her singing can bring me to my knees..how one person can have so much talent is truly, truly beyond me.

jen is also a very independent girl. impressive ;-) not your typical Asian girl? you'd better believe it ;-) oh yeah, i cant believe this chick likes SOCCER...mind you im not sure quite how much she likes the sport, as opposed to liking the concept of watching 22 guys running around getting all hot and sweaty and then occasionally taking their shirts off. but i digress...she is the only girl i know to have bought the Guide to Euro 2004. actually, come to think of it, she's the only PERSON i know who bought it, period. how worrying...hahahamoving along, Jen's taste in music is similar to mine...you're my nigga, J :-D and her taste in cars is equally as good, though she needs more tutoring from me b4 i can leave her alone on this one...the Maybach? that was me :-)

so...in conclusion, what do we have? a hot girl who is creative, multi-talented with good taste, and most important of all, GOD-FEARING...one of my closest and most dear friends, ladies and gentlemen i present to you JENN CHIAM :-)...so i guess it's true. went to Toni&Guy for a color change...i am very happy with how it turned out, though u can't really see it in da pictures... ha ha... could not capture da essence of da colors... but it looks great!

and i sat down on dat chair for hourssss.. so tired. knowing dat i had only 2 hours sleep da nite before. so, i kept on drinking coffee, to boost me up...

well, hopefully this color lasttt... and yeahhh..i spent too much money on me hair nech..have to cut it out...oh well...gals..r always gals... ha ha...try hard to look HOT terus...ha ha!!alrite... catcha soon...!

just before i enter my garage door just then, i saw a brown paper bag with some kinda wrapper in front of my house. so, i picked it up after i parked my car and there it was...A GIFT!!..'must be a valentine's gift' i thought... so i read da card, but there was no name. but da card sounded very sweet... still have no idea who send it though... and then, in da wrapper, there was dat elephant on da photo...gosh..i know i'm not a big fan of elephant, but it is very2 CUTE... unique, artistic... whoever who send this to my house is just so sweet...

pst tara was with me when i picked the gift up, n she kept on guessing all da names of guys dat probably comes up to her head...n i totally have no idea who it is from... oh well... it's ok... but whoever u r... THANK U!!! u r very very sweet... and love da present!!!

can u believe how hot it is on TUESDAY???so, i was in Apst.J's house and we were washing cars!!! omg..my car is so CLEAN now!! and then, cos it was still 37degrees at 7pm at nite, we decided to go down to cottesloe...apst.j wanna have a swim..and then prolly an icecream.. so we went to cottesloe..take pictures, had a swim n then WENT TO GELATO!

n just by looking at those colours of da icecreams, oh maaannn... u just feel like u r in heaven!!i had my lemon sorbet...so sour n sweet...dun like it, so i threw it away...he he.. but overall, i had a gr8 time...cooled myself down...n i lovveee it!

come to think of it, da way i think now and before is way way different.. believing in Jesus is not hard at all. kalo orang indo bilang, ga muluk2.. Apst.J and Pst.Tara have been those who help me in this journey, making me stand in this place now.. those two have da bigest role in my journey to perfection..
